On June 27, the World Club of Odesites hosted the June meeting of the WCO film club “CinemaDuke.”

The Club’s guests immersed themselves in the unique atmosphere of early 20th-century cinema. The central event of the evening was a screening of the 1918 film “The Last Tango,” directed by Vyacheslav Viskovsky, in which Vera Kholodnaya’s talent and charm came to life on the screen once again, reminding us why her name remains legendary to this day.

Equally fascinating was the presentation by screenwriter and producer Oleksii Ovchynnikov about the iconic film “A Slave of Love,” as well as the mysterious story of director Ruslan Khamdamov and the dramatic fate of his unfinished film.

The participants not only discovered little-known pages in the history of cinema, but also engaged in lively discussions about what they had seen, shared their impressions, and once again became convinced that true art is timeless.

We thank the project’s author and host, Oleksii Ovchynnikov, for another memorable evening, and all the guests for their interest, warm atmosphere, and support of the cultural projects of the World Club of Odesites.

The next meeting of the “CinemaDuke” film club will take place on July 25. Follow our announcements!
