Oceans Between the Lines

The World Club of Odesites hosted Galina Verd’s poetry evening “Oceans Between the Lines” — a gathering filled with sincere emotions, deep reflections, and a genuine love for Odesa.

Together with the author, the guests embarked on a poetic journey across waves of inspiration, where poems about the sea and memory, love and women’s destinies, the currents of life, and the unique spirit of Odesa were heard. Every line was filled with personal experiences, warmth, and a deep connection to the author’s native city.

The musical accompaniment created a special atmosphere: at the grand piano performed Yevhen Lukashov, a friend of the World Club of Odesites and a Merited Worker of Culture of Ukraine. His masterful performance created a subtle emotional backdrop for the poetry, adding even greater depth and sincerity to the evening.

Galina Verd — poet, writer, translator, cultural figure, and organiser of numerous creative projects — has for many years brought people of the arts together, supported Ukrainian culture, and inspired creative dialogue. Her work is an example of how words can unite people, strengthen the spirit, and preserve cultural memory.

The World Club of Odesites sincerely thanks Galina Verd for this special evening, for her openness, warmth, and talent; Yevhen Lukashov for the wonderful musical accompaniment; and all the guests for the warm atmosphere, attentiveness, and love of poetry. Evenings like this remind us once again that Odesa lives not only in its streets and buildings, but also in the words, memories, feelings, and hearts of the people who love it.
