On June 26, the World Club of Odesites hosted the first event of the third season of Yurii Yushchenko’s author project “Legends of Theatrical Odesa.” The new season opened with an evening dedicated to the outstanding theatre and film actor Volodymyr Samoilov, whose artistic career began in Odesa.
The Club’s guests immersed themselves in the life and work of one of the most remarkable artists of the 20th century. Yurii Yushchenko spoke about the Odesa period of Volodymyr Samoilov’s biography, his studies with legendary theatre teachers, his first successes on stage, and his subsequent path to national recognition.
The evening’s programme featured unique photographs and video materials from theatre archives, excerpts from stage productions and films, as well as memories shared by the actor’s relatives and colleagues. This allowed the audience to discover the artist’s personality from a new perspective and once again appreciate the important role Odesa played in the development of his talent.
